Hey there, and welcome to NYO-USA: Travel Stories! My name's Eileen, and I'm a violinist in the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. This here's a blog I decided to make to document all the experiences I will go through during the four-week program that is NYO-USA. This is as much for my personal use for recording memories as it is for you, the general public--when I was researching NYO back in sophomore year, I wanted to know more about what NYO members did from a casual, individual experience, so I wanted to start something like what I was looking for to help anyone else who's looking for the same thing.
While you will certainly find much more official information about NYO if you go visit their website here, feel free to peruse this blog while you're at it if you want an (almost) unfiltered take on the experience. NYO also asks some members to blog a few articles on their Carnegie blog, but it's a bit more formal, so while I totally love its style, I made this casual blog so I can deal with my not-necessarily-connected thoughts and put everything I write in one place. It's kind of a niche market, so go find what suits you, and if you decide you're liking what you see here, then stay by all means!
A blog where a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America gladly and intricately recounts her experiences and thoughts along the NYO journey. She hopes you will join her here. (I need to stop talking in third person.)
